"Ignoring the Dangers of Safety in Meron": Click to Increase Tish Participants in "Bnei Akiva" | Israel today

Contrary to the police's position: The Carlin storks demand that the number of participants be raised from 1,500 to 4,000.

Despite the risk, and contrary to the position of the police and the Rashbi revelers in Lag B'Omer, the Carlin Chassidim are pressuring the law enforcement agencies to increase the number of Tish participants in the Bnei Akiva complex from 1,500 to 4,000.

The storks presented an opinion by engineer Eli Frenkel, who believes that this is not dangerous.

In recent months, struggles have been waged in some of the Hasidim to confirm the existence of Tishim in the area of Mount Meron.

Hassidim and other communities claimed that the local council posed difficulties with the approval of the complexes, and that the state "refused the promise to train and provide the required infrastructure in the field."

Last week, following an appeal by MK Meir Porush to Minister of Religions Matan Kahana, the use of the "Bnei Akiva" compound on Mount Meron was approved, and it will be used by several Hasidim.

There will be several events at the complex at different hours with a limited number of participants, but approval for these events is subject to safety and security plans.

"Israel Today" has learned that the Carlin Hasidim are using a pressure cooker to hold a mass event, with the participation of 4,000 followers, contrary to the police position and the revelry engineers, according to which only 1,500 people can be admitted.

"After police and revelry engineers said there was no chance of increasing the number of participants, they brought in an outside engineer who submitted a dissenting opinion. They are trying to increase the number of people while ignoring safety hazards," a source close to the matter said.

The fact that it is the Carlin storks that are leading the struggle is particularly jarring in light of the disaster that occurred just two weeks after the Meron disaster.

On Shavuot 2021, just before the holiday, tribunes in the new Hasidic seminary in Givat Zeev collapsed.

It should be noted that the engineer hired by the Hasidim now, Eli Frenkel, also confirmed the prayer on Shavuot.

He was questioned and released, and the judge ruled that his involvement was marginal to non-existent.

In a conversation with Israel Today, Frenkel claimed that this was a professional conflict, and not a security issue.

"The calculation is of physical indices in accordance with the plans and requirements, and in the 'Bnei Akiva' complex 4,000 people can be admitted safely. It must be said that this is not an increase in the number of participants in the event."

Police oppose a large number of Tish participants, as they have to cross a security axis to do so, and Frenkel says he believes they can be moved in an orderly fashion.

"I suggested that the crossing be controlled."

According to him, the security forces are aggravated by the disaster.

The Carlin storks did not respond to the news.
