A source in the Bennett bureau: "We are going to great lengths to replace the Ram in Torah Judaism" | Israel Today

Israel Today has learned that MK Gafni received Rabbi Edelstein's approval before launching attacks on opposition leader Netanyahu.

Feverish consultations and behind-the-scenes contacts in the Prime Minister's Office between senior members of the coalition and senior members of the Torah Judaism Party.

On the topic: to switch between Torah Judaism and the RAAM. .

In recent weeks, the chairman of Torah Judaism, MK Moshe Gafni, has frequently attacked opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu and even called on the Likud to replace him in order to establish a right-wing government.

It is now known that they preceded the same green light attacks that Gafni received from Rabbi Edelstein, the leader of the Lithuanian current in the ultra-Orthodox community, to sharpen the tone in front of Netanyahu.

At that time, contacts began between senior members of the Ashkenazi ultra-Orthodox party and members of the coalition and the Bennett bureau.

This is with the intention of examining collaborations between the government and Torah Judaism.

These contacts were conducted, among others, by Blue and White Chairman Bnei Gantz, Minister Ayelet Shaked and others.

In recent days, ahead of the return of the Knesset from the recess, there have been more intense discussions about the continuation of the coalition in the absence of a majority in the Knesset, during which the possibility of replacing RAAM in Torah Judaism, or at least a majority, increased the coalition by MK or two. What causes the most harsh criticism of the government since it was founded and especially recently - the partnership with RAAM. .

And like other members of the coalition who have recently expressed discomfort from sitting with RAAM, in light of the security incidents.

On Gafni's birthday, which took place at noon in the Knesset, Knesset members from the coalition arrived, including Yesh Lapid, who embraced Gafni, and gave him plenty of smiles.

Prime Minister Bennett himself said at a right-wing faction meeting today that his overarching goal is to "stabilize the government and possibly expand it."

In Torah Judaism it is estimated that if it had been up to Gafni alone, the move would have already taken place.

But there are some obstacles Gafni will have to go through if he agrees to go all the way.

The first of these are some members of Torah Judaism who are expected to strongly oppose, led by MKs Pindros and Porush.

The other is the Shas faction, which strongly opposes ending the alliance with Netanyahu, and is the one that pushed for the joint announcement with Torah Judaism after Bennett's remarks.

Another obstacle that arose in the talks between the parties is Avigdor Lieberman.

While with Yair Lapid, right, new hope and the Labor Party, Torah Judaism has no problem in a joint yeshiva, however with Lieberman this may be a problem due to its venomous attacks on the ultra-Orthodox public.

Torah Judaism and Shas stated that "the current government does not gain the trust of the people and without a majority in the Knesset, it repeatedly harms the ultra-Orthodox and traditional public.

We will continue to do everything we can to replace it with a national government that will give security to the residents of Israel and respectfully represent the tradition of Israel and the weaker sections. "
