Biocides are used to try to curb the sometimes massive ant infestation on playgrounds.
Poing's mayor has now announced this.
Poing – In order to counteract the massive ant infestation on public playgrounds and on the outdoor facilities of day care centers, the municipality of Poing will commission a specialist pest control company.
This was announced by Mayor Thomas Stark at the most recent meeting of the municipal council's building and environmental committee.
Attempts are being made to reduce the ant infestation by using biocides.
The area in which the biocide is applied several times must be closed for about 24 to 48 hours until the poison has seeped into the ground.
As Stark further reported, the municipality of Poing spends around 7,000 euros a year on ant control.
However, the goal of eliminating the infestation completely cannot be achieved.
Another attempt is now being made with the help of a specialist company and biocides.
