The low groundwater levels are not only a concern for the water management authority.

The Koenigsdorf Council discussed the withdrawal quantities in meadows.

Königsdorf – The very low groundwater levels at five measuring points in the district have not only recently caused concern for the water management office in Weilheim.

That's why he was approached by citizens, said Bernhard Woisetschläger (UBL) at the most recent meeting of the Königsdorf municipal council.

Because Geretsried and Königsdorf now have their water cleaned using a joint UV filtration system.

"And the issue is now explicit: Geretsried is developing a new district with 700 apartments, which will also increase water consumption." there is an upper limit".

Maximum flow rate: 280,000 cubic meters per year

Mayor Rainer Kopnicky (CSU) made it clear that there are still two different water supplies, each with their own water law notices.

The latter regulate the withdrawal quantity per year.

The head of the town hall was not able to name the amount permitted for his community right away, Andreas Baumann later supplied it: "The maximum flow rate from our well in the Wiesen district is 280,000 cubic meters per year." , which are also in meadows a few 100 meters away, are not known to him, according to the town hall manager.

However, Kopnicky agreed with Woisetschläger: “You have to keep an eye on the topic of drinking water and, if necessary, seek dialogue with the Geretsrieder Stadtwerke.

Luise Seemayer (CSU) recalled earlier times when the city of Geretsried lost a lot of water through leaks in its pipe network.

“Back then, the water protection area would have had to be expanded enormously.

The city then decided to cap its withdrawal from Wiesen to around 1.8 million and, I believe, to draw one million cubic meters from the Munich network." As far as she knows, Seemayer continues, the 280,000 cubic meters for Königsdorf include " also a buffer".

The extraction for Königsdorf also runs "via our own pump and not via that of Geretsrieder, so that we are not thrown into one pot".

Costs for the construction of the UV system divided according to the water withdrawal

Town hall chief Kopnicky did not want to put his hand in the fire for the figures given by his CSU colleague for Geretsrieder water requirements.

"They may have changed in the meantime, and the city of Geretsried does not have to give us any information about this".

But one thing is clear: The costs for the construction of the UV system around ten years ago were divided according to the water withdrawal: six sevenths took over the Geretsrieder, one seventh the Königsdorfer Königsdorfer.

The mayor emphasized again that he was "critical of a further increase in the amount of water taken from meadows, because "sometime an area will reach the end of its capacity and water is a common good".

A tenth of the water is used for backwashing

Bernhard Woisetschläger reminded that a tenth of the water pumped is needed for backwashing the UV filters.

"So the more that is removed, the more you need for the flushing, so it swings upwards more and more." And with a view to the neighboring city, the UBL Council said: "Growth is all well and good, but it has to be bearable remain growth.”
