Just in time for Queen Elizabeth II's upcoming throne jubilee in June, a documentary will be released, which for the first time was also shot from the royal family's private home videos.

Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen is the promising title of the documentary that, according to the BBC's announcement, chronicles Queen Elizabeth's life as a princess through her own eyes and words.

It will premiere footage of the Queen's life from the time she was pushed in a pram by her mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (101, † 2002) to her coronation in 1953 at the age of 27.

As a special highlight, the makers revealed that the first longer visit of Prince Philips (99, † 2021) to Balmoral will be in 1946, when the couple's engagement had not yet been announced.

This was announced on July 9, 1947, so viewers can get an idea of ​​the two youngsters in the first phase of falling in love.

The couple later married in November 1947 and were married for 73 years before the Duke of Edinburgh died in April last year, just months before his 100th birthday.

BBC studios viewed more than 400 rolls of film privately held in the royal collection in the vaults of the British Film Institute (BFI) and discovered lost newsreels gifted to the Queen and behind-the-scenes footage of state events.

The filmmakers also listened to three hundred speeches by the regent from 80 years on the hunt for pearls in the history of the exceptional monarch.

Claire Popplewell, Creative Director at BBC Studio Events Productions, is very grateful that the Queen had the confidence in the channel to present parts of her life.

"Being able to draw on the self-recorded history of a young Princess Elizabeth and her extended family is at the heart of this film."

The documentary will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 29th.
