Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther announced exploratory talks for Tuesday next week after the CDU, which he led, won the state elections.
First he wanted to talk to the Greens in the morning and then to the FDP in the afternoon, said Günther on Monday evening in Kiel after a meeting of the state board.
At the same time, he announced that he intends to speak explicitly with his previous coalition partners about a continuation of the Jamaica three-party coalition in Kiel, which is not necessary to form a majority.
The state election result on Sunday shows the "huge support for this constellation" in the population, said Günther with a view to the currently governing tripartite alliance of his party with the Greens and the FDP.
The high level of satisfaction with the state government is not based on »individual parties«.
He therefore considers it "right" to also talk about the possibility of an alliance with "a very broad parliamentary majority" in the upcoming soundings.
The CDU won Sunday's state elections by a wide margin.
A two-party coalition with the Greens or the FDP would therefore suffice to form a government.
Best result since 1983
According to preliminary results, the CDU gained significant votes in the election and, with 43.4 percent, achieved its best result since 1983.
With a record result of 18.3 percent, the Greens became the second strongest force ahead of the SPD, which experienced a historic debacle with a share of the vote of 16 percent.
According to the preliminary result, the FDP lost significantly and came to 6.4 percent.
The party of the Danish and Frisian minorities, the South Schleswig Voters' Association (SSW), achieved 5.7 percent.
The AfD missed the re-entry into the state parliament with 4.4 percent.
