Three Philippine security forces were shot dead today at a polling station as citizens headed to elect a new president for the country.
Police told AFP that the shooting took place after the start of polling in the municipality of Bulwan on the island of Mindanao in the south of the country, where armed groups are active.
The armed attack came after an explosion occurred late yesterday inside a polling station in Datu Onsai, also on the island of Mindanao, injuring nine people.
Elections include the vice president, representatives, half of the senators, county governors and other elected officials.
