BRUSSELS - The European Commission is considering issuing new common debt to support the financing of Ukraine's reconstruction in the coming months.
The solidarity fund, which is expected to be unveiled on Wednesday 18 May, would have an estimated value of 15 billion euros.
This is what is learned in Brussels.
"We are working on the proposals and we are evaluating all the options", explained the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, confirming the hypothesis.
Discussions with EU governments are ongoing.
Some countries, including Germany and Austria, are asking Brussels to put alternative options on the table.
