Foreign Minister Baerbock is again visiting Ukraine for consultations.
Possible weapons deliveries are likely to be one of the topics.
Kyiv/Berlin – Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is traveling to Ukraine on Tuesday (May 10) to personally assess the situation.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz had announced the trip several days ago - a few hours after Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj had called each other.
In the conversation, misunderstandings from the past were cleared up, it was said afterwards by both sides.
Baerbock's visit symbolizes another step taken by Germany towards Ukraine.
It is not the first visit in her tenure as Foreign Minister: on February 8, the 41-year-old traveled to the Donbass, where the heaviest fighting in the Ukraine war is currently taking place.

At that time, Baerbock visited the front lines and said afterwards that she was returning to Germany with "very depressing feelings".
She threatened the Kremlin, since Russia was gathering more than hundreds of thousands of soldiers at the border: "Any further aggression would have massive consequences for the Russian side." 17 days later, the invasion finally began, escalating the Ukraine conflict.

So now follows Baerbock's second trip as Foreign Minister.
Few details are known from the Federal Foreign Office.
The Greens politician may meet with the Ukrainian President Zelenskyj to advise.
The foreign minister's place of residence is said to be primarily in the capital, Kyiv.
One of the topics should be further weapons deliveries.
During an election campaign appearance in Aachen on Sunday (May 8), on the occasion of the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, she again spoke out in favor of further deliveries.
Statements on this are expected later today.
