Of course, I congratulated the President of the Republic, but during this period, I reserved my interventions for my group and my political family.

I don't much like reacting under impulse or emotion.

We have suffered a historic failure and I refuse this definition in three blocks which I consider to be artificial and circumstantial: there would be nothing but a catch-all center and two extremes.

You sparked a debate by saying, in

Le Figaro

, that a presidential election without a campaign would pose a question of legitimacy.

Do you maintain your analysis?

I also said that the French were going to decide on April 10 and 24 and that their choice would be binding on everyone.

I had therefore not questioned the legitimacy of the election but underlined a question linked to the electoral campaign.
