Berg - in May, the painter Helmut Geierstanger from Munich is a guest in Berg.
As artwork of the month, he is showing two paintings from the series "Dreamed Nature" (oil on canvas 2021/22).
The presentation will take place next Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. in the Katharina-von-Bora-Haus at Fischackerweg 10 in Berg.
The Berger actor and author Philipp Moog will read a short passage from his 2021 novel "Anderwelt" this evening.
Helmut Geierstanger was born in Waging in 1953.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and lived in Paris from 1978 to 1983.
After his return, he became an integral part of the Munich art scene as a painter, but also as a gallery owner.
He is interested in fathoming the world with the means of painting, says Helmut Geierstanger, his pictures are subjective memories of experiences in nature.
Philipp Moog, born in Munich in 1961 and raised in Berg, is best known as an actor and speaker.
In 2008 he published his debut novel "Lebensrang", followed last autumn by "Anderwelt". Every month, the Protestant parish of Berg, in cooperation with the Berg cultural association, presents an artist with a selected work.
"A picture only becomes a picture when you add your own." This quote from Sigmar Polke will be featured in the series of events in 2022.
Bread and wine as well as a literary, philosophical or even theological text accompany the work of art of the month on the evening of the presentation.
The project is curated by Katja Sebald and funded by the municipality of Berg.
The host is Pastor Johannes Habdank.
The next date in the Artwork of the Month series is scheduled for June 8th.
Then the artist Daniela Fugger-Antonacci will exhibit one of her works in Berg.
