Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Spadi said tonight (Tuesday) that "there is no Israeli sovereignty over the holy places in Jerusalem. They are occupied Palestinian territory and Israel is an occupying power that does not hold any sovereignty over the holy places."
Spadi stressed that the Temple Mount, for all its territory, is a place of worship for Muslims only.
The minister reiterated that "any change in the status quo in the Islamic and Christian places in Jerusalem is a game of fire," hurting the feelings of more than 1.2 billion Muslims worldwide will push the region into further deterioration.
Against this background, Spadi claimed that Israel was delaying the appointment of about 70 new people by the Jordanian Waqf Ministry, who would help maintain the Temple Mount and fulfill its role.
Recall that a few weeks ago, the Jordanian prime minister, al-Hassuna, announced that he was saluting the rioters who were throwing stones at Israel's security forces in the mosque.
Meanwhile, on Friday, King Abdullah will meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
Earlier, Jordan's King Abdullah received the "Road to Peace" award and said in his speech on the occasion of receiving the award: A line in the holy places is a central demand for peace and harmony and freedom of worship. "
