Cheering in the CDU parliamentary group: The Union celebrates Prime Minister Daniel Günther after his election victory and re-elects Tobias Koch as parliamentary group leader.
The faction is significantly larger than last.
Kiel – Two days after winning the state election, the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein made an initial personnel decision.
On Tuesday, the parliamentary group re-elected financial politician Tobias Koch as parliamentary group leader.
The mood was really good after the election success, said Koch.
In a secret ballot, the 48-year-old received 33 out of 34 votes in the constituent meeting.
The Ahrensburg has been the leader of the parliamentary group since 2017.

The parliamentary group includes 9 women, 18 MPs are new to the state parliament.
Three parliamentarians are under 30 years old.
According to the CDU, the Kiel direct candidate Seyran Papo is the first MP with a migration background to belong to the parliamentary group.
In the last electoral term, the party had 25 seats, now there are 34.
"The CDU parliamentary group is therefore very well equipped to take on social issues across the board and to position Schleswig-Holstein for the future," said Koch.
The faction is not only larger and more urban, but also more female and younger.
"In this respect, it's an amazing challenge for me as parliamentary group leader to lead this great team over the next few years."
At the beginning of the session, Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) received rhythmic applause for several minutes.
Günther welcomed numerous new members of the parliamentary group in the afternoon.
But the politicians who have left Parliament, such as the previous President of the State Parliament, Klaus Schlie, were also there in a great atmosphere.
Again and again applause and cheers erupted loudly.
The CDU won the state elections on Sunday with 43.4 percent, clearly ahead of the Greens and the SPD.
It is now represented in the state parliament with 34 members.
The newly elected parliament has a total of 69 members.
The Union, which has been governing with the Greens and FDP since 2017, is mathematically dependent on only one of the two previous coalition partners.
Next Tuesday, the CDU wants to explore a new government alliance, first with the Greens and then with the FDP.
On Monday evening, Günther expressly described a new edition of the Jamaica coalition as an option.
