Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann wants to focus on the areas of climate protection and education in view of the foreseeable decrease in tax funds in the budget deliberations.
It is important to become more "sovereign" in energy production and to push ahead with the expansion of wind power, said Kretschmann on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
"We have to set more pace there."
Stuttgart - In school politics, the challenge is to increase the educational success of the "lower third" of the students in order to remedy the shortage of skilled workers.
The green-black coalition fears that the economy and tax revenues will collapse over the course of the year as a result of the Ukraine war.
Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) said in the cabinet that he did not consider the May tax estimate to be "very reliable" because the consequences of the Ukraine war had not yet been sufficiently taken into account.
Added to this is the high rate of inflation.

Kretschmann said: "I think it's right that he's stepping on the brakes a bit now." It's clear that you also have to be able to pay for things that you think are important.
"If you don't have enough money, you have to prioritize." If the ministers don't do it themselves, the finance minister for the 2023/24 double budget will have to do it for them.
