Lebanese Army Commander Joseph Aoun affirmed the army's readiness to maintain the security of the country's parliamentary elections scheduled for the 15th of this month.
The Lebanese National News Agency quoted Aoun as saying today that “the army is operationally and security ready for this task, and what it means is the successful and democratic completion of the electoral process,” stressing that the army stands on impartiality and is not a party to this entitlement at all. Trouble or friction to prevent aggravation of the situation.
Aoun called on “the parties concerned with the elections to show national responsibility and cooperate with the military institution to achieve this entitlement calmly and democratically.”
