For a long time now, the most faithful representation of the terrible socio-political pit we have fallen into has been summed up in three words: Galit Distel Atbrian.
The well-known MK from the Likud, who for the sake of fair disclosure will tell that I know and appreciate her, manages, in fact her presence in politics and discourse, to sweep a lot of attention, which is expressed in vocal opposition to her and what she represents.
This resistance, its character, style and various accents - teach a lot.
Distal Atbarian was supposed to be the refreshing political gospel of the Knesset, and it is indeed so in terms of its voters and supporters.
Israeli politics today is characterized by many people of action and few people of opinion;
It is natural that in politics there will be more people who grew up in politics itself and in the ranks of the various parties, but in recent years they have been reinforced by many military veterans, and under the auspices of the flourishing of fashion parties even in the anonymous community.
Either way, sharp-witted and opinionated intellectuals are hard to find in the Knesset buffet.
It is not that there are not many smart and talented, serious and capable people in the Knesset and the government.
I mean this "something else" that makes a politician weighty in the realm of knowledge.
And in the words of the poet, "there are no professors in it like an olive and prophets in it there is nothing at all, history has no niche in it, there is no seriousness in it, there is no weight."
I myself have a simple test for this weight: take a name of a Knesset member and add the words after it: "He once said."
Let's say: "Shimon Peres once said ..." - works out, right?
Beauty.
Now try it with most of the names today, and see how you explode with laughter.
In a normal and corrected world, MK Distal Atbrian - a gifted and wide-ranging writer, one of the few weighty intellectuals in the Mishkan - would become a refreshing gospel. Business, a brilliant and polemical orator who is second to none, decent and full of personal charm. Yossi Sarid, Shulamit Aloni and Aryeh Deri at one price.
And what did we get?
For me, that's exactly what we got.
I look at the opposition activities of Distal Atbrian, and welcome the moment when the idea of mobilizing the Likud leader flashed in her heart.
But the corrupt discourse on the other side of it, ceases to sin against this gospel, to aim arrows at it with disrespectful poison, to obsess over its every utterance and try to find, in vain, untruths, to recall again some exaggeration which once took it, to impose on it personal controversy with rivals, not only Who are not as a value but are not even able, for the most part, to understand it and the gospel of its rare leadership.
A day will come and the injustices of this crazy time will be written, one by one, and a certain camp will be very ashamed of them.
Let us not forget to include this one as well.
