Female defendant deceased, charge terminated
Male defendant Zhang Zilong (34 years old, human resources manager), and female defendant Zhong Yongyi (25 years old).
The Times of Zhong's arrest said the teacher's charges were also dropped because she had died before the trial.
The judge asked in court whether the coroner would follow up on the cause of death of the female defendant, and the prosecution said it was still under investigation.
It is reported that the female defendant did not die due to suicide or infection.
Zhang is charged with participating in a riot with others at the junction of Yen Chau Street and Cheung Sha Wan Road in Sham Shui Po on October 6, 2019; and unlawfully and maliciously hurting Cheng Kwok-chuen.
He was charged with one count of using a face covering while in an unlawful assembly.
He has now pleaded guilty to two counts of rioting and using a mask. The crime of wounding with intent will be kept on file in court and will not be prosecuted.
Zheng attacked by taxi shovel, injured two women
The facts of the case allege that the victim, Zheng Guoquan, drove a taxi past the roadblock at about 5 pm on the day of the crime and was thrown by the crowd.
He therefore drove the damaged taxi to the garage for repairs.
Meanwhile, about 200 to 300 people blocked the road on Qinzhou Street.
Zheng drove slowly along Qinzhou Street and stopped in front of the roadblock when he reached the junction with Cheung Sha Wan Road.

Zheng was twice drenched in bleach

Someone repeatedly stuck the tip of an umbrella to his head, or used a metal sign and a hammer several times, and Zheng was also drenched in bleach twice.
Zhang Zilong, who was wearing a mask, stepped on Zheng with his feet and hit Zheng on the upper body twice with a long hard object.
In addition, the crowd vandalized its taxi, including smashing the body with stones, etc., and smashing glass windows.
The side mirrors and license plates of the taxi were removed, and the body was painted.
Beaten until 7 broken ribs
Zheng Ji was later sent to the hospital for treatment. He was found to have multiple injuries on his body, including lacerations on his left scalp and lower lip, requiring 4 and 3 stitches respectively.
In addition, he suffered a total of seven fractured ribs.
The 23,000 cash and a watch worth 140,000 yuan in Zheng's taxi disappeared.
The taxi was damaged beyond repair, and the taxi company lost about 160,000 yuan.

Zhang was arrested on October 15 of the same year and kept silent under caution.
The defense pleaded that Zhang's attack lasted only a few seconds. Although Zheng suffered serious injuries, he was discharged after five days of hospitalization with no permanent damage.
The defense continued to point out that Zhang had no political orientation, but he did not understand the incident clearly at the time of the crime, was dominated by anger, and committed the crime under the negative influence of the moment, and he now deeply regrets it.

When sentencing, the judge pointed out that the case was accidental, not premeditated, and its severity was moderate.
