Solar energy in Île-de-France: our advice to make the most of your installation

2022-05-10T04:36:46.650Z

According to professionals in the field, more and more individuals are being seduced by this type of installation, including in the region.

“It takes between eight and twelve years with a well-sized system for the installation to be profitable.

If we are talking about an individual who would not have been scammed of course, ”explains Guillaume Charbonnier not without humor.

Photovoltaic trainer, he is at the head of CCS Bat, a small family business established in Magny-le-Hongre (Seine-et-Marne) which works everywhere in Île-de-France, and beyond.

Individuals make up half of its clientele.

And the first piece of advice he gives them is always the same: “I explain to people that I need to come to them to understand how they consume.

Objective: to match their future installation to their needs.

Basic ?

Yet this is the trap into which many people fell in the not so distant era of the "roaring twenties of photovoltaics", 2008 and the years that followed, a boom period during which the quality was not not always there, neither on the side of the installations, nor in terms of advice.

“That's what we called this period between us, that and the

pizza maker facilities

,” smiles Guillaume Charbonnier.

With all the same cases brought to the courts.

Repairing the damage has been the "big" of the last three exercises for this professional in the sector.

Even if he recognizes that there has been an effort to "simplify" this type of installation for individuals.

Still, “most people who want to invest will say:

I want so much power

”.

But beware of “oversized” installations, warns Guillaume Charbonnier.

Return on investment depends on many different factors.

What is certain is that it takes several years because the installation of solar panels costs at least a few thousand euros, depending on several criteria: surface area, power required, type of roof, etc.

Aware of the obstacles that exist for individuals and the fear of scams, a Franco-Norwegian start-up has even been offering to rent them since last year: 45 euros per month all inclusive for a power of around 3 kilowatts peak (kWp), i.e. about eight panels, for a surface area of 15 m2.

Storage, a solution in the event of oversizing

"In Île-de-France, it is possible to find profitability on larger roofs", estimates Raphaël Gerson for the Agency for the environment and energy management (Ademe) of which he is deputy director. in Ile-de-France.

It is also necessary to favor the south… including that of the Paris region.

And in any case, "optimize the part that we consume", continues Raphaël Gerson.

This is when solar becomes interesting.

For those whose installation is oversized, Guillaume Charbonnier refers to structures that offer virtual storage of surplus such as Urban Solar Energy, created in 2018 and based in Lyon (Rhône).

Specializing in self-consumption, it enables individuals in particular to store the surplus energy produced by photovoltaic power stations, to then use them during periods of night or no sunshine.

“In this way, oversized installations become profitable,” he says.

The Île-de-France region has launched an information site that allows individuals to find out about the solar potential of their home and the steps to take.
