Investigators have investigated the suspicion of systematic tax evasion in arcades with a raid in six federal states.
The suspects are said to have manipulated the reading data on slot machines in such a way that the sales figures reported and used for taxation were corrected downwards, investigators in Bochum said on Tuesday.
Bochum – A total of around 70 properties in Bavaria, Brandenburg, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein were searched.
The investigators are assuming tax damage in the tens of millions.
Eight arrest warrants and twelve property arrests were executed, it said.
The accused are said to have operated various arcades in NRW for several years through a network of companies based in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia.
