Hundreds of Palestinians participated today in two solidarity stands in Tulkarm and Al-Bireh in the West Bank in support of prisoners in Israeli occupation detention.

Wafa Agency stated that the participants in the sit-in in front of the Red Cross office in Tulkarm stressed the need to intensify solidarity activities with the prisoners, especially at this time when they are exposed to a fierce attack of isolation, deliberate medical neglect and the prevention of visiting their relatives, stressing the need to put the prisoners’ issue on the priority list in all international forums. To send a message to the international community and its human rights and human rights institutions of the need to move towards supporting the prisoners' cause, exposing the violations of the occupation against them and pressing for their release, especially the sick prisoners.

The coordinator of the national action factions in Tulkarm, Faisal Salama, said: This stand in support of the prisoners comes with the approach of the 74th anniversary of the catastrophe that befell our Palestinian people and their migration, and there are still seven million refugees, stressing that the right must be returned to its owners, and it is a historical and legal right guaranteed by all international conventions and struggled The prisoners are for this cause, and therefore their freedom is a national duty that we all have to fulfill and to stand with them and support them until their release.

The freed prisoner, Suhaib Jabaiti, who spent 16 years in the occupation prisons and won his freedom in 2018, pointed out that the prisoners are fighting daily struggle battles against their jailers, with dozens of them suffering from serious chronic diseases, such as the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid and Mutassim Raddad, and there are prisoners who have spent more than 40 years, including those who They lost their families and relatives throughout this period, such as Karim Younes, stressing the need for the prisoners' messages to reach international forums and to obtain their freedom.

In Al-Bireh, the rally was dedicated to the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross to support the open hunger strike waged by the two prisoners, Khalil Awawdeh and Raed Rayan, against their continued detention. .

A member of the Fatah Central Committee, Sabri Saidam, confirmed that the Palestinians are standing in this sit-in to hear their voice in rejection of the occupation’s practices, stressing that the issue of prisoners is no less important than the issue of Jerusalem, which makes it imperative for the Palestinian people to be like a solid, cohesive structure that supports this march.

Saidam said: The Palestinians stood yesterday in victory for Ghazanfar Abu Atwan, Kayed al-Fosfous and other prisoners who gained freedom from the occupation prisons after their hunger strike, and today they stand to support a similar step taken by the two prisoners Khalil Awawda and Raed Rayan.

In turn, the Undersecretary of the Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, Abdel Qader Al-Khatib, explained that the prisoners are going through very difficult conditions, yet they continue to stand firm in the face of the jailer who is trying to undermine the determination of the prisoners. However, all the oppressive occupation practices will not affect the steadfastness of these freedmen and will not break their resolve.

Al-Khatib expressed concern about the condition of the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who suffers from a serious and critical health condition, stressing that the normal situation for a person in this condition is his release so that he can receive treatment by a qualified medical staff to ensure that his life is saved.

About five thousand Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation prisons face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention.
