The winner of South Korea's presidential election, Yoon Seok-yeol, was sworn in today as the country's president for a five-year term, in a ceremony held at the National Assembly Square in the capital, Seoul.
"Today, we are facing multiple crises, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain problems and global conflicts that cast a shadow over us," Yoon, 61, was quoted by AFP as saying, pledging to perform his duties and work to meet these challenges.
Yun was a prosecutor and was elected president of South Korea last March, after winning by a very narrow margin over his opponent with 41 percent of the vote.
