UN envoy to the Middle East, Tom Winsland, also refrained from blaming Israel for the journalist's death, but used pro-Palestinian rhetoric: "Israel's security forces in Jenin in the occupied West Bank," he wrote in a statement.
"My deepest condolences to her family and I wish a speedy recovery to her fellow journalist who was injured in the incident. I call for an immediate and thorough investigation that will result in those responsible for the incident being held accountable," Winsland wrote, without specifying who was responsible.
Qatari Foreign Ministry aide Lulwa al-Hatter responded to the journalist's killing and attacked Israel: "A heinous crime joins the ugly record of the Israeli occupation when they murdered journalist Sheerin Abu Akala by firing on her."
