An Airbus of the Russian airline Aeroflot stands alone and abandoned at Munich Airport.
The 158-seater has not been moved since February.
Nobody knows when he will take off again.
Airport - Each day costs 342 euros “parking fee”.
The Airbus is a victim of Russia's February 24 attack on Ukraine.
Because just three days later, like many other countries, Germany blocked its airspace for all flights to and from Russia.
The Aeroflot Airbus missed the last opportunity to return home from Munich Airport.
Because of the Ukraine war: Russian Aeroflut Airbus is stuck at Munich Airport
Airport spokesman Ingo Anspach reports that the Airbus with flight number SU 2826 coming from St. Petersburg landed in Erdinger Moos on February 27, according to flight records at 1:37 p.m.
Just an hour later, at 2:35 p.m., the Airbus was scheduled to take off again as SU 2827 back to St. Petersburg.
But before it went onto the runway, the federal government issued a take-off ban.
The Aeroflot machine got stuck.
On the Internet it is said to this day that the flight has been cancelled.
The crew should have traveled home long ago in a roundabout way.
By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Erding newsletter.
But what happens to the plane, which is just six years old and costs between 80 and 120 million US dollars, depending on the equipment?
One thing is certain: it does not belong to Aeroflot at all.
Because the official identifier, his license plate so to speak, is VP-BET.
This is not a Russian code.
The B stands for Bermuda.
This suggests that Aeroflot leased the machine.
The airline itself can only pick up the Airbus when the airspace is open again - i.e. after the war, which is not at all foreseeable.
Munich Airport: Russian planes are not allowed to fly to St. Petersburg – the future is uncertain
Or, and this is more likely, the lessor will reclaim its Airbus and look for a new airline.
As long as the plane produces costs - according to airport spokesman Anspach parking fees of 342 euros per day - so far more than 24,000 euros have come together.
According to information from our newspaper, a good dozen Russian planes are stranded across Germany.
