"Tonight we are top stars" - according to the hit "Helicopter": The CDU leadership found it suitable for their big victory: And spent dancing.

Kiel - It was a historic election result for the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein, the best in almost forty years in the state.

Günther and his party colleagues are now celebrating the victory.

The image and video material leaves a feeling of foreign shame - perhaps because the conservative reputation of the CDU does not go well with wild parties.

With the victory, the party was able to recover a little from the setbacks of the last six months and boosted the morale of party colleagues for the upcoming elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 15th.

The CDU in Schleswig-Holstein has soared: with 43.4 percent, a great victory after a series of defeats

In Schleswig-Holstein, Prime Minister Daniel Günther's CDU clearly won with 43.4 percent of the vote.

The winner of the election now faces the question of whether he wants to strive for a new coalition with the Greens or with the FDP.

Günther announced exploratory talks for Tuesday next week.

He also left open the option of relaunching the coalition of the three parties that have ruled together in a Jamaica alliance in the north since 2017.

Before the exploratory talks, the Schleswig-Holstein party leadership apparently took the time to celebrate the victory extensively.

After last autumn's federal election, which was sobering for the CDU, and the party's poor result in the state elections in Saarland, the result for the party is a triumph.

It is hoped that the result will also provide momentum for the important state elections in populous North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday (May 15).

The CDU election party after the Schleswig-Holstein victory: "Tonight we are top stars"

The celebratory mood of the CDU leadership in Kiel is understandable.

Nevertheless, the video material published on Twitter, among other things, leaves many with an embarrassed feeling.

To the hit "Helicopter" by singer Tobee, helicopter movements were mimed and the ambiguous refrain ("I'll show you my helicopter") was roared.

"Tonight we are top stars" - this line of the song clearly summarized the mood of the election winners.

A party caravan was not missing either.

With a patronizing rock star gesture, Günther finally threw his tie into the crowd from the DJ booth.

Election victory of the CDU in Schleswig-Holstein: tailwind for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 15th

The CDU chairman Friedrich Merz spoke of an "outstanding success" and expressed his hope: "This is tailwind for us as a federal party, but of course it is also tailwind for North Rhine-Westphalia.

After the election is before the election.” Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, emphasized that, like in Schleswig-Holstein, the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia wants to come first in the upcoming state elections on Sunday (May 15).

"That's what it's all about: becoming the strongest force, getting a government mandate to ensure stable conditions in North Rhine-Westphalia as well."

Günther also attributed the success of the CDU to the wide range in the election.

The CDU occupied its list equally with men and women and also paid attention to a fair distribution of the age groups.

"That shows: A CDU that positions itself in a modern way, that also represents clear issues in the place, has every chance of achieving such results." (
