Throughout Bavaria, the weather shows its summery side, in some regions it gets really hot.

After the heat comes the storms.

Munich – It's finally getting warm in the Free State.

The "ice saints will become sweat saints", as meteorologist Dominik Jung predicted in a weather analysis.

And Bayern are feeling that at the moment too.

The sun is shining brightly across the country, causing temperatures to rise.

In some regions, the heat wave hits particularly hard and ensures values over the 30 degree mark.

However, the Sahara heat also brings thunderstorms with it.

After the hot days it can really crack.

Weather expert Jan Schenk from

The Weather Channel

even speaks of "supercells".

Weather in Bavaria: Where the heat wave causes summer temperatures

According to the weather forecast from wetter.com

, the warmest days of the week are

Tuesday and Wednesday.

It seems to be the warmest in Lower Franconia and Middle Franconia.

For Tuesday, the weather map in Würzburg and Erlangen shows maximum values of around 25 degrees.

For Augsburg and Munich only 23 degrees.

On Wednesday it should be a few degrees warmer:

  • Weather forecast for Wednesday (May 11):

  • Würzburg (Lower Franconia): 27 degrees

  • Erlangen (Middle Franconia): 27 degrees

  • Bayreuth (Upper Franconia): 25 degrees

  • Augsburg (Swabia): 25 degrees

  • Munich (Upper Bavaria): 27 degrees

  • Regensburg (Upper Palatinate): 26 degrees

  • Passau (Lower Bavaria): 26 degrees

"30 degrees are also possible locally," explains Schenk in a video.

Especially on the Main and "maybe also on the Alps".

The reason is warm air that comes from the Sahara to Germany.

On Thursday, the summer temperatures of around 25 degrees will be over in many places.

The temperatures tumble a bit and level off at around 20 degrees.

After the heat comes the thunderstorms.

Especially in the south it crashes on Friday.

Thunderstorms move over Bavaria after the heat wave: Even super cells are possible

While it will remain calm on Wednesday with no rain showers, the weather map for Thursday shows a completely different picture.

"Something's really going on there," explains Schenk.

"There are many thunderstorms and supercells are not excluded".

Supercells are the heaviest thunderstorms "that we know of," according to Schenk.

Above all, Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Upper Palatinate and Upper Bavaria are affected.

The people of Munich also have to be prepared for a lot of rain and thunderstorms.

“We have to assume that there can also be hail and squalls.” There will be lightning and heavy rain anyway.

"If there are thunderstorms in the south, there will soon be severe weather," warns Schenk.

In southern Bavaria, thunderstorms continue on Friday.

According to Schenk, thunderstorm activity flared up again in the morning.

That is very unusual, but according to the first forecasts, a lot of rain will probably fall from the sky.

At the weekend, Bavarians can look forward to sunshine and highs of around 21 degrees in most regions.
