The farmers of Al-Hasakah Governorate have finished cultivating their lands with the cotton crop for the current season, as the final cultivated area reached 5910 hectares distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.
The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the cultivation of cotton for the current season has witnessed a good turnout from farmers in various areas of agricultural stability where there are constant water resources throughout the summer period, such as water bodies, dams and underground wells, and the cultivated area is concentrated in the northern countryside And rural cities of Hasaka, Qamishli and Tel Brak.
Bilal pointed out that the area cultivated for the current season exceeded the area cultivated during the last season by more than 1,200 hectares, while the area planned to be planted with cotton this year, set by the Directorate of Agriculture, amounted to 6754 hectares.
It is noteworthy that the area planted with cotton during the last season amounted to 4,679 hectares.
