For two years, students had to do without multi-day school trips due to the corona pandemic.

Travel has been allowed again since the Easter holidays.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – For two years, the students had to do without multi-day class trips due to the corona pandemic.

Such trips have been allowed again since the Easter holidays – and some of the young people are already sitting on their packed suitcases.

From the Bavarian Forest to the island of Rügen

On Monday, the students of the Max-Rill-Gymnasium in Reichersbeuern went on a big trip.

According to headmistress Carmen Mendenz, the lower school traveled to the Bavarian Forest to replace the canceled ski camp.

There is an adventure camp on the program.

"The middle school is going to the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea in the same week," reports Mendenz when asked by our newspaper.

Political education in Berlin

The tenth and eleventh graders travel to Berlin for political education.

On the other hand, study trips abroad are still being avoided.

The corona situation is still too delicate.

Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the exchange with the Russian partner school in Moscow is currently on hold.

"We're not breaking off the partnership," the school assures.

The exchange with the partner school in Nantes, France, takes place at the St. Ursula girls’ grammar school at Hohenburg Castle in Lenggries – also in May.

Headmaster Christoph Beck recommends a class trip to each of his teachers because social issues have “been scarce” in the past two years.

According to Beck, there is an alternative in summer for the unusual ski camp.

However, this is more of a short trip because "all of Germany wants to make trips" and many destinations are therefore fully booked.

But one is happy to be able to offer the schoolgirls a two-day trip to Regensburg, for example.

On the other hand, the trip to the mother house of the Ursuline Order in Brescia, Italy, had to be cancelled.

That could no longer be organized.

According to director Alexander Göbel, all trips at the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Gymnasium in Tölz will take place as planned.

This includes the trip to Berlin for the tenth graders, the nature experience days in Berchtesgadener Land for the eighth graders and also (musical) rehearsal weeks, some of which have already taken place.

Reductions at the Geretsrieder Gymnasium

The Gymnasium Geretsried has to make cutbacks.

"The student council is still planning, but the trip to Berlin will probably not be possible," regrets director Christoph Strödecke.

The teachers are currently heavily involved in the Abitur exams, he cites as one reason.

But one is considering whether there is an alternative offer for the tenth graders, after all the trip to Berlin is already a highlight for the students.

"The teachers are open-minded," says the principal.

To the summer sports week in the Altmühltal

The exchange with the partner school in Chamalières, France, has already taken place.

"It worked well," summed up the director.

Things are looking good for the seventh graders, too.

The ski camp had to be canceled due to the corona.

But according to Strödecke, they are going to the Altmühltal for a summer sports week.

The Q11 study trip is to be made up for.

The Rainer-Maria-Rilke-Gymnasium in Icking is also pursuing this plan.

"We try to use the full range," says headmaster Stefan Nirschl, referring to the excursions.

There are days of reflection at Fürstenfeld Castle for the eighth graders, Latin students go to Rome and the tenth graders to Berlin.

An exchange with the partner school in Pécs, Hungary, is also planned.

The Hungarian students are expected to pay a return visit in September.

Cabins now rented in the summer

The unusual ski camp for the sixth and seventh graders is also quickly turned into a summer camp - in the same place.

Because it is difficult to get appointments at short notice, the decision was made to rent the huts in Austria that were actually booked for the winter sports week in summer.

"It worked," says the director happily.
