Documentation: A Palestinian driver crossed a red light and hit a family Israel today

2022-05-11T12:00:14.360Z

The driver, an Arab who crossed the Kiryat Arba junction quickly at a red light, caused moderate injuries to four children and their father.

The Kiryat Arba Hebron local council and the surrounding localities are calling on the Ministries of Transportation, Homeland Security and Security to intervene in order to increase enforcement against drivers who drive in riots throughout the city and throughout the area.

According to the head of the Kiryat Arba-Hebron local council, Eliyahu Libman, and the head of the Har Hebron regional council, Yochai Damari, all their requests for a meeting with the Minister of Transportation, Meirav Michaeli, were not answered.

According to them, most of the minor and serious accidents involve Palestinian drivers.

The director of the security and rescue department at the Kiryat Arba council, Moshe Botvia, says that on average there are about three to four road accidents a day in the area.

"The vast majority of these accidents involve an Arab driver," he explains.

"We need to act with an iron fist against terrorism driving on the roads. Maybe in this way, with the help of the name, there will be more deterrence and driving on the roads of Judea and Samaria will be safer for all road users."

Only last Friday, a major disaster was averted when, just before Shabbat began, a Palestinian driver crossed the entrance junction to Kiryat Arba-Hebron at a red light, injuring four children and their father.

The five were evacuated for medical treatment at the hospital when their condition was moderate.

Security camera footage shows the Palestinian vehicle coming from the north to the south and speeding towards the intersection, disregarding the red light.

Unfortunately, he hit an Israeli vehicle that turned several times violently and was stopped when it hit the traffic light.

The council say that according to the injured car driver the first thing he did was check on the children and said: "There were scary moments that I was not sure we would get out of this alive, there was a lot of blood".

Magen David Adom paramedics who arrived at the scene of the accident within minutes began caring for a one-and-a-half-year-old baby who was hit in the head while being tied to the back seat.

"We had a real miracle and thanks to the Creator of the world," the driver said.

"The doctors told me that in such accidents it is possible to end life or end up with much more serious injuries than we got. My children and I were miraculously saved. But what happens next? The Palestinians act like crazy and wildly, without order and without law. It is impossible to continue like this."

The head of the Mount Hebron Regional Council, Yochai Damari: "I have been warning all parties for a long time that the roads in Judea and Samaria are a ticking time bomb.

The Palestinian driving infrastructure and culture must be addressed as soon as possible.

These accidents are taking a heavy toll on all sides, including the Palestinians themselves who are bleeding here.

These are transparent casualties that the State of Israel does not count among the casualties.

As a result, the roads in Judea and Samaria do not receive the appropriate treatment for red roads.

"My repeated requests from the Minister of Transportation to meet her in person as well as in groups together with the heads of the authorities in Judea (Betar Illit, Efrat, Gush Etzion and Kiryat Arba-Hebron) did not receive a response.

"There is Russian roulette here on the roads that needs to be stopped immediately."

The head of the Kiryat Arba-Hebron local council, Eliyahu Libman: "We are suffering from road terrorism by the Palestinians. They drive in riots, in non-standard vehicles, sometimes under the influence of alcohol and drugs. We have a great appreciation for the Israeli police but they do not have enough manpower. I call my office. "
