Following the death of the senior journalist of the Al-Jazeera network, Sheerin Abu-Akla, who was killed while covering the battle between the security forces and terrorists in Jinin, Communications Minister Yoaz Handel told Israel Today: "We are now investigating the incident.
I assume the journalist was hit by Palestinian gunfire.
"The attempt to immediately accuse the IDF of harm stems from an anti-Israel view and not from a truthful investigation."
MK Ahmad Tibi, from the joint list, said that Sheerin Abu-Akla was al-Jazeera's face towards the Arab world, a prototype of a brave journalist.
In an interview with Aryeh Golan, Tibi said that there is no explanation in the world for the fatal shooting of her or any other journalist.
According to him, IDF soldiers do not take into account the presence of journalists and the phrase "the IDF is investigating the incident" is provocative, false and outrageous.

The IDF said that IDF, GSS and Border Police forces operated in the Jenin refugee camp, near the village of Burkin and in several other centers throughout Judea and Samaria, in order to arrest suspects in terrorist activities.
As part of the activity in the Jenin refugee camp, suspects fired heavily at the force and threw explosives.
The force responded by firing.

The possibility that journalists were harmed, possibly by Palestinian gunfire, is clearly being investigated.
Meanwhile, the IDF spokesman in Arabic, Major Avichai Adrai, posted on his Twitter page: "Israel has offered the Palestinians to open a joint investigation into the circumstances of the killing of journalist Sheerin Abu-Akla."
