Kate Middleton and Prince William inaugurated the memorial to the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.

In a speech, William addressed comforting words to the bereaved.  

MANCHESTER - It's been five years since a suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena left 22 people dead.

A special memorial has now been opened in honor of the victims.

Kate Middleton (40) and Prince William (39) also attended the inauguration, they commemorated the deceased and gave their relatives comfort.

For Prince William, several important appearances were recently on the agenda.

The future heir to the British throne first celebrated his premiere at the opening of Parliament in London.

After Queen Elizabeth (96) had to cancel the appointment due to her ongoing health problems, her son Prince Charles (73) read the government statement for the first time.

His wife Camilla (74) and his son William were at his side.

Shortly after the formal ceremony, the Duke of Cambridge and his wife Kate Middleton continued on to Manchester.

The couple opened the "Glade of Light" memorial there in memory of the terror victims of the 2017 attack. Visibly moved, Kate and William laid flowers for those who died in the suicide bombing during a concert by Ariana Grande (28). were torn.

In his speech, Prince William then found comforting and touching words – he can understand only too well how it feels to have to say goodbye to a loved one far too early.

Kate and William were visibly close to the dedication of the memorial in Manchester.

 Prince William: 'It's comforting to remember'

"As someone who lives with my own grief, I also know that what is often most important to the bereaved is that those we have lost are not forgotten.

It's comforting to remember.

[…] They have changed our lives.

You were loved and are loved.

That's why monuments like the 'Glade of Light' are so important.

[…] A memorial is a physical statement that the memory of the deceased lives on,” emphasized the 39-year-old in his speech, also paying tribute to his mother Princess Diana (36, † 1997).

The Cambridges then attended a private memorial service at Manchester Cathedral.

There, Kate and William had the opportunity to talk and exchange ideas with relatives of the victims and with first responders who were involved in the attack.
