Within just three hours, two motorcycle accidents occurred on Tuesday at Kesselberg.

One of those involved, a 35-year-old from Munich, was seriously injured.

Kochel am See – The first accident on the Kesselberg route occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A 35-year-old from Munich was traveling downhill towards Kochel on his Aprilia motorcycle.

"Obviously at too high a speed," according to the police, he drove into the so-called "applause curve", a long left-hand bend, came off the right side of the road after a braking maneuver and crashed into the crash barrier.

Driver is catapulted over the crash barrier

While the driver was catapulted over the guardrail and remained on the embankment, his machine continued to slide on the road.

The man from Munich was taken to the Murnau accident hospital by the BRK ambulance with serious injuries.

His machine, which was apparently a total loss of around 15,000 euros, had to be towed away.

According to initial findings, the crash barrier remained undamaged.

In a 180-degree turn, Munich's front wheel slipped away

Three hours later, there was another crash: A 20-year-old man from Munich drove up Kesselbergstrasse in his Husqvarna motorcycle around 7:30 p.m.

In the 180-degree curve (parking lot), the Munich driver's front tire slipped away.

He fell and slid with his motorcycle into the oncoming lane.

There he slipped slightly against the bumper of an oncoming VW Passat, driven by a 57-year-old man from Bonn.

Fortunately, he had already braked his car completely.

The following motorcyclist collides with the car

Another motorcyclist, a 20-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who was behind the Munich driver, recognized the accident situation, but could no longer avoid a rear-end collision.

He collided with the VW.

Luckily, all three involved were unharmed.

However, all three vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.

The material damage incurred amounts to around 24,500 euros.

The road maintenance department was on site, took care of the leaking oil and cooling water and the signs.
