"Despite his authoritative consideration, which I respect but which I do not share with education, I believe I have the constitutionally recognized right and perhaps also the duty to live my life as a free man and cultivate my political and social commitment after having paid for my mistakes with great suffering ".
Thus the former governor of Sicily Totò Cuffaro, comments with ANSA on the words of judge Alfredo Morvillo, brother of Francesca murdered in the Capaci massacre thirty years ago with Giovanni Falcone and the escort agents.
Yesterday Morvillo said that "thirty years after the massacres in Sicily, there are those who currently wink at people convicted of mafia" and "there is a Palermo that goes after them, contends and supports them".
Morvillo did not mention names but the reference was to Marcello Dell'Utri convicted of external complicity in mafia association and Totò Cuffaro, who served five years in prison for personal aiding and abetting people belonging to Cosa Nostra and revelation of secret investigation.
"It is not enough to say the mafia sucks, only to be convicted of the mafia" Morvillo underlined, referring to the statements made by the former governor of Sicily when he was still in office.
Cuffaro is the head of the New DC,
the party presented itself to the last municipalities in Sicily, winning some councilors in three small municipalities;
in Palermo the New DC supports Roberto Lagalla, the center-right candidate for mayor.
