In March this year, the police discovered that someone had disclosed information on police officers, a number of Legislative Council members and their family members on an online social media platform, including their names, dates of birth, ID numbers, phone numbers, residential addresses and office addresses, etc. .

The investigation revealed that the victims in the case included several police officers and more than 70 members of the Legislative Council.

The persons involved in the case even posted some inflammatory remarks on the same social media platform before the Legislative Council election in July 2020, including attacking the Returning Officer by means of "gas bombs".

After investigation, the Cyber ​​Crime Bureau identified a 23-year-old man surnamed Ho local, and today (11th), together with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, arrested the man involved in the case in Sham Shui Po District. He was suspected of violating the "Privacy Ordinance". Section 64(3C) "disclosure of personal data without consent causing specified harm to the data subject or his family" and the common law and Offences against the Person Ordinance "incitement to cause grievous bodily harm with intent" "The crime is being detained for investigation.
