It all starts on Friday: Moosburg is looking forward to the Spring Festival, which will be celebrated from May 13th to 18th.

A near-dilemma could be averted.

Moosburg

- The city is ready for the restart of the folk festival.

After an autumn festival that was organized quite spontaneously last year, the old tradition is now continuing after two years of pandemic break: The 53rd Spring Festival begins on Friday, which should not be missing this year for the 1250th anniversary.

The host family and city officials were full of anticipation at a press event two days before tapping.

"Our innkeepers have now become Moosburgers," said former mayor and deputy district administrator Anita Meinelt, referring to Christian Krämmer, who, together with his family, has been a reliable partner of the city for a good ten years.

The restaurateur emphasized that the low beer prices (Maß Helles 8.40 euros, Maß Weissbier 8.70 euros) could only be offered because the city of Moosburg was fully behind the festival.

Dilemma averted - Organized a cracker as an alternative

The last excitement of the planning was the cancellation of a ride at short notice due to a defect.

The head of the building yard, Martin Holzner, let the town and the other showmen get in touch – with the result that an absolute hit was spontaneously found.

The ride "The Freak" is a 42 meter high propeller, for which the planning on the fairground was partially changed.

"The folk festival isn't just for us old people," said Holzner, "we also wanted something wild for the young."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Almost exactly two years after his election, local boss Josef Dollinger has his first big appearance – as mayor with the hammer on the barrel. He is quite relaxed about tapping on Friday: “I am a craftsman and am good with tools.

I don't have to practice anything like that.” In general, Dollinger is looking forward to the Spring Festival with confidence.

The reservations for Friday and Saturday are already showing people's great interest in the festival.

"This folk festival abstinence was very hard for me as a self-confessed fan of the Moosburg folk festival," confessed Anita Meinelt.

Josef Westermeier from Erdinger Weißbräu was also happy with her, “because this is the first folk festival for us after the pandemic.

We bought the beer sets in 2020 and they are still brand new.”
