The ministerial assembly of the Coalition against Daesh (Arabic acronym for the Islamic State) mobilizes several dozen heads of diplomacy and delegates in a palace in the palm grove of Marrakech, protected by an important security device.
Initially co-host of the meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who tested positive for Covid-19, was replaced by the number 3 of American diplomacy Victoria Nuland.

During this meeting, the Coalition Ministers will review the actions undertaken in terms of stabilization efforts in the areas previously impacted by Daesh, in the field of strategic communication against the radicalization propaganda of this terrorist group and its affiliates, and the fight against foreign terrorist fighters
,” said Moroccan diplomacy.
The discussions will focus more particularly on Africa, at a time when IS seems to want to establish itself in the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea.

Launched in 2014 to fight the jihadist group and its hold on a territory of more than 110,000 km² between Iraq and Syria, the Coalition against Daesh brings together 84 states and international organizations (including NATO and Interpol).
If the IS has lost its hold on this territory, the threat posed by this jihadist organization has not disappeared.
She thus vowed to “avenge” her previous leader, Abu Ibrahim al-Hachimi al-Qurachi, killed during a US operation in Syria in February, and urged her supporters to take advantage of the war in Ukraine to resume their attacks in Europe. .
