The two rappers Young Thug and Gunna, among the most influential artists of the hip-hop scene in Atlanta, were arrested Monday, May 9 in the state of Georgia.
56 charges are brought against them including racketeering, murder, armed robbery and participation in criminal gang activity, according to the local news channel WSB-TV.

According to the 88-page indictment, obtained by WSB-TV reporter Michael Seiden, Young Thug is one of the founders of a criminal street gang, named Young Slime Life (YSL), which has been operating in Atlanta for ten years.
This group is said to be affiliated with the national Bloods gang and 26 members of YSL have also been taken into custody.
Gunna is accused of conspiracy to have tried to violate the RICO law (Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations), a text which aims to fight against organized crime.

As the indictment alleges, two associates of Young Thug allegedly asked his permission to kill entertainer YFN Lucci, who is currently serving a jail sentence for murder in Fulton County.
Young Thug is also accused of renting a vehicle that was used in the 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas Jr.
In 2019, YFN Lucci's car had already come under fire in Atlanta.
The artist emerged unscathed from the shooting but in January 2022 he claimed he was stabbed while in jail awaiting trial for murder.
Young Thug 'has not committed any crime'
Young Thug's lawyer is the only one to have spoken so far.
He asserts that his client has done nothing to justify such a display of force.
Brian Steel said he was convinced of the rapper's innocence.

And I would fight to my last drop of blood to prove it.

The charges against the two stars could earn them life in prison, according to the words of the prosecutor in charge of the case.
