Author Hasnain Kazim basically makes a purchase offer for “student apartments” in Munich.

He wants a political reaction.

Munich - "City center location between Theresienhöhe and the main train station, landlord service, fully furnished": In principle, this sounds like an attractive apartment for students who want to enjoy life in the state capital.

That's what author Hasnain Kazim thought when he came across the relevant advertisement from Raiffeisenbank München-Süd.

The crux of the matter: an undoubtedly handsome purchase price is called for the units.

“Student apartments in a central location in Munich”: the ad makes the author ponder

According to the advertisement, 17 square meters of living space can be purchased for 292,500 euros, for 35 square meters almost 800,000 euros are due.

No student has to live in the heart of Munich, the author of several books qualifies in a Twitter post, "but regardless of that, these prices are insane".

In his posting, Kazim devoted more detail to “real assets in European metropolises”.

And the longtime

Spiegel

correspondent becomes fundamental in his observations.

Although he is in favor of the rules of supply and demand, he emphasizes that in the present case "all limits have been broken" for him.

Kazim demands: "Here government intervention, political action is urgently needed."

On Twitter, users discuss eagerly - and quite controversially.

"I just don't know what such a regulation should look like that doesn't make the problem worse in the end," ponders a fellow reader.

Twitter user fatalistic about the living situation in Munich: "At some point we will all live in mobile homes"

Corresponding prices would also explain the emerging hype surrounding tiny houses, comments another, who is not very optimistic about the future: "At some point we will all live in mobile homes and park illegally when we have to sleep."

Perhaps a move by the city of Munich will bring a silver lining to the horizon?

It has now launched a large-scale funding program with a volume of 60 million euros for the next six years.

Since March 1, cooperatives and property developers who are planning predominantly subsidized and price-reduced rental apartments have been able to receive grants.

Prerequisite: You must use at least 50 kilograms of wood per square meter of living space.
