There are new bike racks in front of a Penny supermarket in Munich.

Reason enough for clear announcements to notorious illegal parkers.

Munich - It's the little things in life.

For a cyclist in the south-east of Munich, a short piece of paper was cause for joy these days.

Black on white, placed not far from the supermarket you trust.

“Now I can park my bike right at the entrance.

I like it," the woman wrote on the corresponding Twitter post.

Parking situation in front of Penny-Markt in Munich: Signs are often ignored

The stumbling block was once again the culture war between cyclists and car drivers.

More specifically, the parking situation in front of the Penny market on Innsbrucker Ring.

Apparently, motorists had repeatedly ignored signs and parked their cars on the sidewalk.

This should be over now.

“We kindly point out that parking on the sidewalk is not allowed.

We ask you to use the underground car park,” a local building services company clarified on the note message.

A nice side effect for cyclists: additional bicycle racks have now been installed directly at the entrance to the Penny market - which makes shopping more pleasant for the Twitter user.

Her tongue-in-cheek summary: "I would like to thank those who parked illegally".

In the comment column you get a feeling for the sometimes prejudiced arguments between Munich road users.

"But no mutti tanks fit in the underground car park," writes one user.

Another puts it more drastically: "They're inconsiderate, selfish drivers, but they're used for something."

Woman from Munich moderately enthusiastic according to note: "Find alternatives"

A woman from Munich, who apparently belongs to the car group, sounds a little upset about the note: "Fortunately, the supermarket density here is high enough to find alternatives."

Has she already heard what is supposed to be happening around the not so far away V-Markt on Balanstrasse?

A move by the city council majority is currently heating up tempers;

Munich cyclists would benefit from the project.
