Ukraine could push the occupiers back to Russia's border.

Secret services have new insights into Russian plans in the Ukraine war.

  • Resistance of Ukraine:

Ukraine is expected to advance to the border of Russia.

  • Russia's military plans:

In the Ukraine conflict, US secret services suspect that Russia is planning a land connection between Donbass and Transnistria.

Kyiv – The Ukrainian armed forces have announced territory gains around the second-largest city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.

"The occupiers are gradually being pushed back from Kharkiv," said President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in a video message on Wednesday night (May 11, 2022) on the Ukraine conflict.

"The villages of Cherkasy Tyshky, Rusky Tyshky, Rubishne and Bayrak were liberated," the Ukrainian general staff said on Facebook.

The Russian armed forces could thus hit the city of Kharkiv "even less" with artillery attacks, but the "intensity of the bombing in the Kharkiv district has increased".

According to the Ukrainian regional administration, the Russian troops are also leaving "death traps" - mines.

Army of Ukraine makes 'significant progress' in war

In recent weeks, the northern and north-eastern parts of Kharkiv have often been the target of Russian rocket attacks.

The Russian troops also advanced to within a few kilometers of the city.

However, the US Institute for War Research (ISW) said over the weekend that the Ukrainian army was “making significant progress in that part of the country and is likely to advance to the Russian border in the next few days or weeks.”

While the Ukrainians are retaking control of lost areas in the north-east of the country, the Russians are gradually advancing about 150 kilometers to the south-east in the Donbass.

Ukraine's Southern Command reported "merciless" attacks by Russian forces on homes, farms and power supplies.

Meanwhile, deputy mayor of the now almost completely destroyed port city of Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko, reported that the last Ukrainian forces at the Azov steel mill continued to face "dozens" of attacks.

Ukraine war: Russia probably plans land connection between occupied areas and separatist region

In the south of the country, the "psychological pressure on the neighboring population of Transnistria" continues, according to the Ukrainian military.

Accordingly, in the Ukraine war there was a "blockade of the region due to the decommissioning of the Dniester bridge, which was again attacked with rockets".

US intelligence believes Russia is planning to create a land link from the occupied territories in Donbass and near the Crimean Peninsula to the pro-Russian separatist region of Transnistria in eastern Moldova.
