An era came to an end with the departure of Rudolf Ulrich as chairman of the Aircraft Noise Association.

As reported, the 83-year-old has represented the club's interests for a good 15 years.

He told Michael Rappenglück at the annual meeting: "Stay tuned so that our efforts have not been in vain so far."

Gilching

- In a detailed review, Ulrich went into the history of the association since it was founded in 1988 and the most important stations.

As a positive conclusion, he rated that the association of citizens annoyed by aircraft noise had ultimately established itself as a "successful monitoring body".

After all, under the leadership of the association, a noise control point below the entry lane near Geisenbrunn and one in Neuhochstadt are monitored for violations of the approved flight movements and accountability is sought from the airport operating company Edmo if they are exceeded.

In 2017, the association was granted a comprehensive right of action by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, which also played a role in the plans for a commercial area in Unterbrunner Holz, which have since been abandoned.

Hubert Schloter (former secretary) sang a song of praise for the outgoing chairman.

Among other things, he emphasized that Ulrich had "always acted objectively and across party lines".

Mayor Manfred Walter added that Ulrich had always shown transparency to the public.

Incidentally, he remarked on the Gautinger commercial area in the direction of Ulrich: "They never wanted to prevent anything, but to use the opportunity for redesign." Ulrich was happy about the appreciative words, about a lot of applause, a small porcelain lion and a bottle of sparkling wine.

In the new elections, 39 of 735 members were present, Rappenglück was elected Ulrich's successor.

He admitted that he held other offices, but promised that as a municipal councilor (SPD) in Gilching, he would be able to represent the interests of the association even more.

He is supported by the previous advisors Tilo Zabel (cash) from Gilching and Helmut Mattes (Weßling) as secretary.

Gerhard Held (treasury) gave the current cash balance as 99,000 euros.

The long-standing board members Held and Schloter did not stand for re-election.
