An 80-year-old man from the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen suffered health problems when driving through Saulgrub and lost control of his car, a black Mercedes.

In the middle of town, at the height of the railway barrier, the elderly man behind the wheel suffered from serious health problems.

His Mercedes raced uphill at full throttle towards the Hager dealership.

The car missed a cyclist by a hair's breadth.

On the sidewalk, the car continued its kamikaze ride.

A street lamp was knocked over, barrier chains and street posts rolled over.

A new car that was for sale at the outdoor dealership was massively damaged at the front.

A lady who was on the street with her car was overtaken by the 80-year-old on the sidewalk on the right at undiminished speed, while the man's Mercedes collided with a power box that supplies countless houses and businesses with electricity.

After this collision, the pensioner's car raced further up the street towards Autohaus Mayer.

Shortly before, the driverless vehicle collided with an oncoming silver Mercedes that was occupied by three people.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles were thrown off the roadway and came to a stop.

First responders stopped and tended to the injured until ambulance and firefighters arrived.

The result: four inmates with minor to moderate injuries who were taken to the surrounding hospitals by ambulance and rescue helicopter.

It was a moment of shock for the arriving rescue workers when they arrived at the scene.

The place of action, 1st commander and head of operations from Saulgrub, Georg Sporer jun, stretches around 200 meters:

Traffic had come to a standstill because the B23 is still closed for repair work.

The road maintenance department came hurriedly and opened this blockage so that the traffic could flow again, the traffic jam was enormous.

"It was extremely fortunate that no more people were injured here," says BRK rescue service operations manager Hans Steinbrecher.

Imagine if the accident had happened a few hours earlier, with children on the way to school.

Because the electricity pylon was badly damaged, the power went out in the entire area.

Even a vehicle in the car wash got stuck.

The power supply could only be restored in the afternoon.

The fire brigades from Saulgrub and Bad Kohlrgrub secured the scene of the accident and ensured fire protection.

The fire brigade was also responsible for blocking the through road.
