The Translation Society of the Arab Writers Union, in cooperation with the Syrian General Book Authority, held a symposium honoring the writer and translator Wajih Al-Assaad, which included the paths of his cultural and literary life.

The head of the Tartous branch of the Arab Writers Union, Munther Issa, stressed in his speech the union’s determination to consolidate thought and culture to enrich the moral system through the establishment of activities in all governorates of the country within a plan to honor writers who enriched thought and culture, in addition to openness to different cultures and working on a culture that serves the national system, reviewing The history of translation and the role of the celebrated.

The symposium, which was moderated by Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, Director General of the Syrian Book Organization, included how to deal with translation and its impact on literature and culture, in which he spoke about the importance of being celebrated in translation in a documentary way and the themes that will be addressed in the lectures. .

The symposium concluded with a speech by Engineer Maha Wajih Al-Asaad, in which she expressed the importance of the value expressed by the Arab Writers Union and the Syrian General Book Organization to her father, pointing to many of his virtues, and then handing an honorary shield as the daughter of the celebrated.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the Arab Writers Union, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, said that honoring the writers and translators who gave a lot to culture is one of the most important achievements of the Arab Writers Union and the Ministry of Culture. Duties must be completed this walk.
