Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov asserted that the United States is deliberately turning reality upside down by claiming that the global food crisis is the result of Russia's actions in Ukraine.
"The Kyiv authorities are preventing ships in its ports from leaving and delivering supplies and other goods to other countries, and at the same time, Moscow's attempts to coordinate the opening of humanitarian corridors for these ships are completely ignored," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Antonov as saying today.
Antonov pointed out that Washington firmly refuses to bear responsibility for its external economic mistakes and insists that the restrictions imposed on Russia do not harm the global food and fertilizer supplies.
The Russian ambassador added, "Moscow is deeply concerned about the current situation in global food markets and intends to continue to fulfill its obligations under international export contracts with regard to agricultural products and fertilizers," noting that attempts to isolate the Russian financial system and undermine the capabilities of the transport sector are of no value to Washington.
