District of Miesbach – The state association of Bavarian bus companies has announced a strike for Friday.
Buses will also stand still between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the Miesbach district.
On Friday (May 13), buses in the Miesbach district will also be stopped from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. in scheduled and school transport.
The reason is a Bavaria-wide protest action by the State Association of Bavarian Bus Companies (LBO).
"Due to the exorbitantly high diesel prices and the continued lack of financial aid, the medium-sized Bavarian bus companies feel compelled to stage a protest to draw attention to their situation in the wake of the energy crisis and the planned 9-euro ticket," explains the LBO.
Many family-run transport companies see no other way out due to the explosion in diesel prices and the loss of fares due to the pandemic.
“Despite announced state aid, no money has flowed so far.
For months, the transport companies have been bearing the additional costs out of their own pockets," complains the LBO.
The talks with the federal and state governments have so far remained unsuccessful.
The districts also play a central role, adds the LBO: "Some authorities have recognized the need of the bus companies and have promised specific help or have already adjusted the prices," says Managing Director Stephan Rabl.
“But many counties still don’t understand it.
The end of the flagpole has been reached.
Many companies are on the verge of insolvency due to the diesel price explosion - although the corona pandemic had prepared the ground," warns the LBO managing director.
In addition, there is now the 9-euro ticket: "The recognition of the 9-euro ticket by the local transport company may and can only take place if it is ensured that the companies receive the missing fare income - and not just afterwards, but in advance,” demands Rabl.
Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH (RVO) is also taking part in the announced strike by Bavarian bus companies.
"With the loss of fares and cost increases that have already occurred in the last two years, operations can no longer be maintained independently in the long term.
Many private bus companies are already worried about private insolvency and since they are important partners for us to ensure secure local transport, we are also taking part in this campaign," explains Andreas Päschel, RVO Oberland branch manager.
"Our additional costs for diesel alone amount to around 100,000 euros for March and April 2022 compared to 2021," explains the company.
