A number of committees in the People's Assembly met this morning with the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Damascus, Fabio Vaz Petaluca, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen and develop parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries and advance them to serve the interests and aspirations of the peoples of the two friendly countries.

Ambassador Petaluka stressed that the visit comes within the framework of enhancing the exchange of experiences and delegations between the two friendly countries and discussing ways to strengthen relations between them and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed al-Kuzbari, head of the Parliament's Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, pointing out that Syria desires positive relations with everyone.

Head of the Arab, Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Committee in the Majlis Boutros Morgana explained that the United States of America and its allies are fueling conflicts by creating hotbeds of tension in the world and imposing illegal sanctions on the peoples and governments of countries that stand in the way of their policies.

For his part, Chairman of the Economic Affairs and Energy Committee in the Council, Muhammad Raad, drew attention to the great financial burdens that Syria suffers from to compensate for the shortage of oil and wheat as a result of the American and Turkish occupation forces theft of Syrian wealth, indicating that Syria, despite the siege and sanctions, is working to the utmost to alleviate the suffering of its people and secure their needs.
