Germering – The CSU parliamentary group in the Germeringer city council visited the Germering food bank on Monday afternoon and handed over a donation of goods worth around 350 euros to the management of the food bank.

Food is handed out to those entitled there every Tuesday.

City councilor Sonja Thiele, who is committed to social affairs and senior citizens in the city but also at the district level, had already inquired about the current situation and the sufficient supply of food for distribution to needy residents in Germering.

During a visit by a delegation from the parliamentary group led by the

second mayor,

Manuela Kreuzmair, and the

parliamentary group leader

, Oliver Simon, Jürgen Quest,

head of the

food bank, once again stated that the willingness to help of many private individuals and the support of the economy, especially from the local grocers, remained high .

Still got the

Ukraine war

made the task of the volunteer Tafel staff and their efforts to be able to offer the needy people in Germering a balanced and comprehensive range of everyday goods even more challenging.

On the one hand, more and more people need to be cared for with the refugees who are now living here, on the other hand, it is also noticeable that in the past few weeks many have donated directly to the aid organizations supporting Ukraine.

“Understandably, that leaves less for us.

Inflation and the massive price increases, especially for food, make things even more difficult.

In recent times, milk, yoghurt and cheese have often been very scarce,” says deputy head of the Tafel, Rainhard Wilhelm.

Milk and dairy products

were concentrated, but pasta and canned goods were also handed over.

Simon thanked the Tafel employees for their tireless commitment and this important contribution to a social urban society: "But words alone are not enough here - actions are required!

I hope that many more will follow our example and also support you with a donation like this.”

The Tafel still needs donations

The food bank at Planegger Straße 7 (Zenja-Haus) accepts food donations every Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
