Tourism in the Oberland must become more environmentally and climate-friendly. There was a lecture on this recently followed by a discussion in the Tölzer Kurhaus.

Tourism in the Oberland must become more environmentally and climate-friendly.

There was a lecture on this recently followed by a discussion in the Tölzer Kurhaus.

Bad Tölz -

Tourists are very welcome in the Tölzer Land.

Especially in the accommodation establishments, which have suffered particularly from the Corona requirements.

Despite all the joy at the end of the restrictions and despite all economic interests, nature and climate protection should play an essential role.

"The question does not arise as to whether we can afford sustainable tourism - we have to afford it," said District Administrator Josef Niedermaier at the "Sustainability in Tourism" event, to which the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Miesbach invited to the Tölz Kurhaus had.

The war in Ukraine is making the need for a rethink even more acute - especially with regard to the future orientation of energy supply, emphasized Stefan Drexlmeier, head of the Bürgerstiftung Energiewende Oberland.

In his presentation, Munich university professor Markus Pillmayer explained which adjustment screws need to be adjusted in order for an entrepreneur to generate a sustainable business concept.

“Sustainability is a basic attitude and not a prescription that can be prescribed.

To do this, you have to be prepared to act sustainably when things get uncomfortable,” he said.

The governor also emphasized this.

"It's important that everyone grabs their noses." Niedermaier is convinced that the pandemic has also had positive effects.

"As far as climate protection is concerned, we needed an emergency brake."

Pillmayer made it clear what must go hand in hand with sustainable behavior.

“You have to adopt a fix and maintain mentality, for example, instead of always throwing everything away and buying new.

We need more repair cafés.” In addition, efforts to reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy and to reduce wealth differences are essential.

"In addition, the economy must be regionalized," emphasized Pillmayer.

He is aware that there are many reservations about these steps.

There is a fear that economic and ecological goals are incompatible.

Drexlmeier used practical examples to show that this does not necessarily have to be the case.

Birgit Trinkl from Bad Wiessee, owner of the "Aparthotel Trinkl", reported, for example, on her company expansion and how she found a sustainable architectural concept.

The decisive factor was "keeping going through the plan from the beginning and thinking about where you can still make adjustments," she explained.

That could even be fun.

"Our employees have always started from scratch and brought in new ideas," says Trinkl.

She relies on regional materials and only commissions companies from the area.

You can see how popular the Oberland is as a local recreation area on every nice weekend.

Therefore, the representatives of the tourism associations Andreas Wüstefeld from "Tölzer Land Tourismus" and Harald Gmeiner from the "Alpenregion Tegernsee Schliersee" were guests.

At the same time, Wüstefeld drew attention to the "Charmant miteinand" campaign in the Tölzer Land, which campaigns for more mutual consideration between tourists and locals.

This also resulted in the “Conservation begins with you” campaign.

According to Wüstefeld, both have been crowned with success.

"Not least through the support of influencers, we reach the younger generation with our concerns."
