Large-scale operation on Taubenberg: The BRK dog squadron Miesbach, fire brigade and BRK have trained for emergencies.

More than 50 people were on site to arm themselves for real operations using the fictitious example of a small plane making an emergency landing.

Warngau - Quite a few hikers may have been surprised when they were last on the Taubenberg.

The parking lot at the natural swimming pool in Osterwarngau was completely occupied and there were a lot of rescue workers on site.

The solution to the riddle: The BRK rescue dog squadron Miesbach carried out a large-scale exercise there.

"Unfortunately, the weather didn't play along, but you can't choose that during an operation," says squadron leader Christian Schubert, who, according to a press release from the BRK, was responsible for handling the entire operation and coordinating between the individual dog squadrons.

In addition to the dog teams from Miesbach, a squadron of friendly Johanniter from the Allgäu was invited and came with several teams.

In addition, eight men from the Hausham fire brigade and the SEG Transport of the Red Cross Miesbach supported the exercise with an ambulance.

A total of over 50 people were there.

Inspired by the nearby Warngau airfield, the following scenario provided the task: emergency landing of a small aircraft, shocked and partly injured passengers - a total of eight - wander into the forest and have to be tracked down and rescued.

“It was interesting to see how a rescue dog operation works.

We at the fire brigade are usually done after half an hour,” said Markus Kober, deputy commander of the Hausham fire brigade.

The exercise was all about understanding between the rescue organizations and mutual support.

Because it is not uncommon for dog handlers to be accompanied by firefighters when they are deployed.

Passing on sites and finding the site in the forest with the Sanka also needs practice.

There was even the rescue of an injured person from a hilltop.

The exercise was organized by Kathrin Lichtenauer and Michael Schabdach from the BRK dog squadron.

Support came from the Osterwarngau Trachtenverein, which made its clubhouse available, and from hunting leaseholders, who agreed to the exercise despite the ongoing hunting season.

According to the BRK, everyone involved was satisfied at the final meeting.
