After an accident on the A7 near Bad Hersfeld, the lane towards Kassel is completely closed.

A dog is rescued with a great deal of sensitivity.

Bad Hersfeld – Dramatic moments happened after an accident on the A7 between Bad Hersfeld and Homberg-Efze.

Around 4:10 p.m. on Thursday (May 12) there was a collision that ended in a dangerous situation for a dog.

The driver of a van drove into the rear of a truck driving in front of him for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

Due to the force of the impact, the van slipped with the passenger side up to the rear wall of the passenger compartment under the rear of the truck, as reported by hna.de.

First responders freed the seriously injured driver from the vehicle wreckage and handed him over to the rescue service.

While the driver was being treated by the emergency doctor in the ambulance, he pointed out that his dog must still be in the vehicle.

With this statement, a dramatic rescue operation was triggered.

In the footwell of the transporter, the emergency services actually found a severely trapped dog, which looked towards the firefighters.

With heavy rescue equipment and with particular care, the firefighters removed the doors and windscreen of the Ford Transit and finally worked their way by hand, repeatedly removing plastic parts, to the dog, who was completely in shock.

A senior sergeant of the Feldjäger and dog handler, who was at the scene of the accident as a first aider, and the crew of an ambulance cared for the apparently shocked but otherwise uninjured dog.

With a blanket and a bowl of water, he could make himself comfortable on the freeway.

Malou, as the dog was called, felt visibly relaxed, but was still shaking a little and kept snuggling up against the sergeant.

After the accident was recorded, a highway police patrol car took Malou to an animal shelter, where a veterinarian will carry out a thorough examination.

During the rescue and recovery work, the northbound A7 had to be completely closed for more than two hours.

A traffic jam of more than 12 kilometers formed.

No information could yet be given about the amount of property damage, the Ford was a total write-off.

Due to a wide variety of information, the exact course of the accident has yet to be determined by the motorway police.
