At about 5 a.m., a motorist was passing Lai Po Road, Lai Chi Kok, and found a tree about 30 meters high collapsed, blocking two traffic lanes and hitting two trucks parked on the side of the road. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Firefighters used chainsaws and other tools to cut open the tree and clear the traffic lanes.
At the time of the incident, the Observatory was issuing a red rainstorm warning.
The Transport Department announced at 06:05 am: Due to fallen trees, the entire line from Lai Po Road to Sham Mong Road near Hoi Lai Village has been closed.
Motorists please consider using other roads.
There is currently heavy traffic on the site.
